Bill Haley and His Comets


"Rock Around The Clock" recorded by Bill Haley and His Comets and released in May 1954 to modest sales, went on to become rock music's first #1 hit in both the US and UK in July 1955 after being used over the opening credits in the movie Blackboard Jungle. It would be a full ten months before rock music would have it's second #1 hit with "Heartbreak Hotel" by Elvis Presley in April 1956. Read the full article from The Telegraph
