UK pop group The Spice Girls set a record for consecutive number one singles in the UK. Ozzy Osbourne launches the first Ozzfest Tour. Sarah MacLachlan forms the Lilith Fair tour featuring all female artists. Rapper Notorious B.I.G. is shot to death.
Janet Jackson signs a record $80 million recording contract. Elton John's remake of his own song "Candle In The Wind" becomes the biggest selling single of all time.
