January 1975 - Bob Dylan has his second #1 album in a row in the US (#4 UK) with Blood On The Tracks. Initially recorded in New York, Dylan re-recorded half the album in Minneapolis. The single "Tangled Up In Blue" hits #31 US.February 1975 - Tuscon, AZ native Linda Ronstadt's fifth album "Heart Like A Wheel" hits #1 US along with the #1 US single "You're No Good". The album fails to chart in the UK.February 1975 - Scottish funk and R&B group, The Average White Band, top the US charts (#6 UK) with the single "Pick Up The Pieces"  from their second album which also goes to #1 US, #6 UK. February 1975 - Dayton, OH funk and R&B band The Ohio Players hit #1 for the first time in the US with both the album and single "Fire".March 1975 - UK rock band Led Zeppelin release their sixth album Physical Graffiti. The two record set charts at #1 in both the US & UK.March 1975 - R&B vocal group veterans Patti Labelle, Nona Hendryx and Sarah Dash of The Blue Belles, rename their group Labelle and score a # 1 hit in both the US & UK with their single "Lady Marmalade".March 1975 - Manchester, UK art rock band 10cc have a #1 single in the UK with "I'm Not In Love" (#2 US) from their third album.March 1975 - "My Eyes Adored You" is a #1 US, #5 UK comeback hit for Frankie Valli, his first since 1967. Valli had previously scored numerous hits in the sixties as the lead singer for The Four Seasons.April 1975 - Folk singer Joan Baez releases her 15th album, Diamonds & Rust, which reaches #11 driven by the title track written about her relationship with Bob Dylan. April 1975 - Boston hard rock band Aerosmith release their third album, Toys In The Attic, which charts at #11 US. They also have their first US Top 40 hit  with "Sweet Emotion" #36 US. They follow later in the year with a re-release of the single "Dream On" which charts at #6 US.April 1975 - Scottish band Nazareth release their sixth album, Hair of the Dog, and score a top ten hit in the US, #15 UK with their cover of "Love Hurts". The title track also becomes a successful album radio hit. May 1975 - Chicago funk and R&B band Earth, Wind and Fire have a US #1 album and a #1 single with "Shining Star" from their sixth album -That's The Way Of The World.June 1975 - San Francisco band The Tubes release their debut album containing the cult hit "White Punks On Dope". The album hits #113 on the US charts and fails to chart at all in the UK.June 1975 - The Bee Gees release the album Main Course with a new dance oriented sound and deliver three hit singles in the US including #1 "Jive Talkin". The album charts at US #14 their highest position since 1968. The album does not chart in the UK.July 1975 - UK band Fleetwood Mac add Americans Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, after the departure of singer Bob Welch, and chart at US #1 (#23 UK) with their self-titled tenth album.July 1975 - Wings release the album Venus and Mars, have a #1 US & UK album and a #1 US, #6 UK single with "Listen To What The Man Said". Wings tours the US, Paul McCartney's first live appearances in the US since the Beatles in 1966.August 1975 - California country rock band The Eagles fourth album is their first #1 in the US, #8 UK and has three top five singles including the #1 US title track "One Of These Nights".August 1975 - Bruce Springsteen releases his third album Born To Run. In October he is featured on the covers of both Time and Newsweek magazines. Publicity, touring and steady FM radio airplay help the album reach #3 US, #36 UK. August 1975 - The second album from Miami funk/disco band KC & The Sunshine Band yields two #1 singles in the US "Get Down Tonight" and "That's The Way (I Like It)" helping to ignite 1975's disco explosion.August 1975 - Boston native and Germany based vocalist Donna Summers disco single "Love to Love You Baby" goes to #2 US, #4 UK with erotic moans and a dance beat.September 1975 - Alive! is a two record live album that goes to #9 US, #49 UK for New York hard rock band Kiss. The album doesn't chart in the UK.September 1975 - Sixties singer / songwriter Janis Ian makes a comeback with a top five US single "At 17" and the #1 US album Between The Lines. In 1967 Ian had a #14 US hit with "Society's Child".September 1975 - UK blues rock band Foghat have a Top 20 US hit with the single "Slowride" from their fifth album Fool for the City.September 1975 - Sixties rock band Jefferson Airplane, rebranded as Jefferson Starship, move to a more mellow, middle of the road sound and have #1 US, #13 UK album and #3 US single with "Miracles". November 1975 - Coming from the same New York City club scene as the Ramones and Blondie, poet Patti Smith releases her debut album Horses, including a cover of Van Morrison's "Gloria". The album charts at #47 US, #157 UK.October 1975 - UK progressive rock band Pink Floyd release their ninth album and follow up to mega-selling Dark Side of the Moon. The album, Wish You Were Here, goes to #1 in both the US and UK.November 1975 - UK rock band Queen release their fourth album and have a worldwide smash with the single "Bohemian Rhapsody" going #1 UK, #4 US. December 1975 - American funk / soul group Parliament's fourth album,  Mothership Connection, is released and reaches #13 on the US album charts.December 1975 - Paul Simon's third solo album, Still Crazy After All These Years, reaches #1 US, #6 UK . The single "50 Ways To Leave Your Lover" hits #1 US, #23 UK.December 1975 - Bob Marley and the Wailers release their first Live album recorded at two London concerts in July.February 1975 Chart - KNUS Radio - Dallas, TXFans line up outside the Bristol, UK Hippodrome before a 1975 Wings concert.
